Power Trips & Greed, The Downfall of Good Intentions!

As I write this today, Our leaders in the government have taken a drastic step in confusing each other again and then leaving their jobs in limbo. They are still drawing a paycheck and receiving the outrageous perks they seem to always vote in for themselves. We are into the third month of the year and if I’m not mistaken The leader of this country has been to Florida to play golf with Tiger Woods on February 17th. On the 26th of February, our Leader was headed to Newport News VA to ” showboat” and try to blame the Republican party of stalling our economy by not doing what he wants. Of the 1,257 days in office, President Obama spent only 4% of his time on meetings or matters concerning the economy,  412 hours or 1.3 hours more than a forty hour work week!  And do we really need a man in the Oval office pretending to want the best for the common man but in reality wants to be a movie star? It might be considered an honor to rub elbows with the rich and famous and have them tripping over each other to be his “friend” but what about the rest of America? John Bon Jovi does good work with the needy but does that afford him the privilege of riding in Air Force One? Quote From President Obama “What we have to do is make sure that we’re constantly getting a clear message out about how we intend to grow the middle class, how we ‘re going to create jobs, and how our positions are squarely in the center of America’s traditions”.

The following are % differences since President Obama started in office.

01/20/2009                           10/08/2012

Avg. price/gallon of gas in U.S.                        $1.83                                      $3.80                            +106%

No. of long-term unemployed                        2,689,000                              6.7 million[4/2010]    + 4.011

poverty rate                                                           13.2%                                      46.2%                          +33%

National debt [in trillions]                               $10.627                                   $16.2                             +52%

What about Congress?

January, 2009 was the most recent data available for the following information from senate.gov

Most Senators, Representatives, Delegates, and the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico‘s pay is #174,000 per year.  The President pro tempore, of the Senate, the House and Senate majority and minority leaders bring in $193,400 and the Speaker of the House a cool $223,500. These figures do not include tax deductions, health & life insurance provisions, retirement provisions, and other personal allowances.  On Friday John Boehner said ” I’m going to say this one more time”, “the president got his Tax hikes on January first. The issue here is spending. Spending is out of control. There are smarter ways to cut spending than this silly sequester that the President demanded.

I, myself am not a seasoned professional on politics but what I really can’t comprehend is this. A man that makes $400,000 a year with an additional $50,000 personal expense account and others that average $174.000 a year, paid for by you and I can not sit down and rationally straighten this deficit out in a timely fashion. I mean, they can want to be in the spotlight, go on numerous vacations, give themselves raises and ignore the public outcry of injustice at will. Am I the only one that can see and suggest spending cuts in this article? It’s high time that Americans get a grip on the officials pretending to run this country. What we need is someone like Mr. Buffet [I don’t mean Jimmy, although he could probably do better] to step up and take control of the job and let wannabe’s like Barrack move to Hollywood to pursue his fame. In my lifetime I have seen President’s Nixon, Carter, and Bush rake us under the coals, and now Obama is making all of them look like promising candidates. Lets use the power given to us and stop this lunacy while we still can

until next time-peace, beibe
