Gimme Time to Think

I made a big mistake while voting the last elections while blindfolded. What was I thinking? Indiana was prime for change as Mitch Daniels left office and went to Purdue University and I blindly put faith in Republican Mike Pence to help Indiana move into the future. But like a snake in the grass he has bit this state and is trying to poison us with stiffer policies regarding small amounts of marijuana. Freedom has this elected official implementing laws that only helped his pockets and let him achieve office.  HB 1006 will find Hoosiers facing felony charges when found with LESS than a third of an ounce of marijuana. This unwanted measure follows the path of not only outdated thinking but an even more disturbing issue that private prisons are lining the coffers of politicians to ensure they keep the cells filled to maximum capacity in turn filling their bank accounts at the expense of Americans who are not harming anyone including themselves! The overhaul aims to put those convicted of nonviolent crimes into treatment and probation programs in their home counties rather than sending them to the state prison system for short stays, according to bill sponsor Rep. Greg Steuerwald (R-Avon).

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence wants to "send a message" to pot smokers [American Elephants]

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence wants to “send a message” to pot smokers. Another provision of the new proposal would require that felons serve at least 75 percent of their sentences, up from the 50 percent or less than inmates might now serve if they earn good time and education credits while in prison. This seems absurd to me as the future lives of Indiana residents will be harshly infected. A young woman trying to improve her life while in college is at the same risk as the many, many fools who want to cook meth in their apartment are. Seriously? A man works hard every day to provide for his family and relaxes afterward by enjoying a little weed  is in chance of serving time in prison. Both scenarios could have the same effect, adding felons to society therefore ruining their lives and their reputations for what? Less than a third of an ounce!

I have made many mistakes in life and had to get back up, dust myself off and go forward in life knowing I had learned a lesson and improved my station in life. Some of these I am still paying for in arrears but have owned up to them. One thing I can not condone though is punishing people over the legal age limit for pursuing personal enjoyment. Just doesn’t sit right with me. A person using marijuana responsively while not on the clock of their employer or driving on public roads should not be prosecuted for any reason! Medically speaking I went through invasive surgery in October and was given perocet as a pain reliever. I choose to smoke marijuana instead as it controlled the pain faster and has no side effects such as internal bleeding. I am on the back side of fifty and have smoked marijuana since 1974 and have yet to see a disadvantage of the natural plant except for two things.

1) In 1975 the U.S. government helped Mexico spray plants with paraquat poisoning sending Bell 212/206 helicopters at a cost of $21 million dollars only to have the same marijuana plants brought into this country and sold to American consumers. WAY TO GO BIG BROTHER!

2) In 2011 Obama requested  $ 15.1 millon dollars to fight the war on drugs. I admit we need to have control on dangerous drugs and applaud the effort but let’s get real for the greater good of all. Stop wasting money and ruining lives for a product that has been proven to be safe and not a gateway to harsher things. Free Marijuana from its unjustly and costly confinement and let the Americans who want to enjoy life’s pleasures do it without worry of confinement and persecution!
